Robert Parrott is the patriarch of another African-American family that appears after the Civil War. In the 1900 census, Robert identifies himself as born in Tennessee from parents born in Virginia. For 1910, he identifies himself as born in Kentucky from parents born in Tennessee. Robert was a farmer, but many of his descendants primarily engaged in coal mining. As is the case with most African-American families, the family is not particularly well documented. Mrs. Dollie Parrott Miller, 89, of LaFollette, died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday at LaFollette Community Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alfred Miller.

Survivors include one son, George D. Miller of LaFollette; two sisters, Mrs. Roberta Locke, of LaFollette, Mrs. Emaline Jefferson, of Pineville, Ky.; one brother, Arthur Parrott of Pineville, Ky.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roach Mortuary Chapel, LaFollette. Burial was in the Wallsend Cemetery in Pineville, Ky. Roach Mortuary, LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.

Notes: Rosemond Carol Hughes began her life's journey in Canebrake, West Virginia on May 14, 1954. She was the first of two children born to Robert Parrott and Ruth Curry. On Sunday, July 31, 2016 she was ready when the Lord took her in his loving arms. While she slept she overcame the vibration of the world and crossed over to the other side.

Rose as she was affectionately called by many was educated in the Big Creek School System. After graduation Rose became employed with General Motors for 39 years. She furthered her education two more years in nursing school. Her family revolved around her because she was the centerpiece of their lives. Her guidance was instrumental in many successes that her children and grandchildren would experience, an attribute of her teachings and leadership. She was an excellent cook and loved caring for her family and friends. Rose was famous for her (Mac & Cheese).

Rose had a heart of gold and gave herself unselfishly to everyone: for to know her was to love her and she will be deeply missed. Rose will always be the wind beneath the wings of her children and grandchildren as they continue to soar. She left too soon but she is resting in peace after the completion of a beautiful life. Rose is reunited with those loved ones who are there to welcome her to her heavenly home, her parents, Robert Parrott and Ruth Curry; beloved husband Jerry Jimerson; and brother, William Parrott.
